What you'll learn ▸
  • Deploy a keyword-to-page map that separates urgent-need, research-phase, and near-me intent so every practice-area search lands on a page built for it
  • Publish a full month of law-firm GBP posts from eight ready-to-edit templates built on credential spotlights and client-education angles
  • Launch a practice-area page module, bar-safe FAQ set, and post-matter review scripts matched to the moments legal clients actually leave reviews

The Most Expensive Keywords in Local Search, and the Ones Worth Having

Legal is the most expensive category in paid search, and in the highest-value practice areas a single click can cost more than an entire month of another trade's advertising. That number is worth understanding even if you never buy a click, because it explains the competitive weather. It means well-funded national firms, lead brokers, and directory sites have every incentive to dominate the obvious terms, and it means an organic Map Pack position in a legal category is one of the most valuable assets a local business of any kind can hold.

It also means the obvious terms are the wrong target. A local firm competing head-on for the highest-volume practice-area phrase in a metro is competing against advertisers who can afford to lose money on the click. The winnable ground is specificity: the practice area narrowed to a situation, a jurisdiction, a court, a deadline. Someone searching a specific problem in a specific county is worth more to you and costs far less to reach than someone searching the category.

Legal search also has an unusual structure. Directory sites occupy an enormous share of the results, and the searcher frequently intends to compare several firms rather than choose one. That makes the consultation, not the phone call, the actual conversion — and it makes the content that explains what happens in a first consultation, what it costs, and what the client should bring more valuable than another page of practice-area description.

Then there is the constraint that governs everything: attorney advertising rules. State bars regulate how firms may describe results, use testimonials and endorsements, claim specialization, and even how disclaimers must appear. Marketing copy that is perfectly ordinary for a plumbing company can create a genuine problem for a law firm, and review response is narrower still, because confidentiality survives the end of the matter and applies even when a former client has publicly criticized you.

This pack maps practice areas to pages at the specificity that is actually winnable, builds consultation-stage content around how a prospective client decides, and provides post-matter review requests and responses written to stay inside professional conduct rules.
